Our School
Jens Haven Memorial School is home to approximately 200 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, the majority of whom are of Inuit descent.
Our school is situated in Nain, Newfoundland and Labrador, the most northerly community on the Labrador coast. Nain has a population of approximately 1200.
At Jens Haven Memorial, we are devoted to keeping Inuit traditions alive. Students are taught Inuktitut, the language of the Inuit, as well as Illusivut, traditional life skills.
Primary School
Our primary school is for our youngest students in Kindergarten to Grade 3. This school has its own Assistant Principal and Secretary, as well as an Instructional Resource Teacher.
4-12 School
Our "big" school is for students in Grade 4 - 12. Our office includes the Principal, an Assistant Principal and a Secretary. There is also an Instructional Resource Teacher for this building.
Huit Huit Huit!
All members of Jens Haven Memorial are part of a House League team. Throughout the school year, the House League Committee organizes fun, in house competitions where teams display school spirt and teamwork skills. Points are cumulated throughout the year to determine the top House League team of the school year!
At Jens Haven Memorial, you can be a member of one of our three House League teams.
